Gunmen Abduct Students and Residents of Niger State community

Armed men have abducted an unspecified number of schoolchildren and residents during an early-morning attack on Kuchi community in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, Reportcard Africa can confirm.

According to local sources, the attackers stormed the village around 1:00 a.m., operating for nearly two hours without resistance as residents fled into nearby bushes.

Witnesses say the gunmen targeted homes and a local school, taking several pupils and adults away toward forest routes connecting Niger State with Kaduna.

A community leader, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, told Reportcard Africa:

> “They came in large numbers, heavily armed. They went from house to house. Many families are missing children and relatives.”

Security Agencies Silent on Casualty Figures

As of the time of filing this report, the Niger State Police Command had not issued an official statement.

Military sources say a search-and-rescue operation is being “initiated,” but no details have been made public.

Residents Accuse Authorities of Abandonment

Locals say Kuchi and other communities in Munya LGA have experienced repeated attacks, with little visible security presence.
