Nigeria’s security forces have launched a major rescue operation to locate and recover dozens of schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State earlier this week, Reportcard Africa has learned

According to credible security sources, troops from the Nigerian Army, supported by local vigilante groups and air reconnaissance units, have begun combing forested areas around Sakaba, Dukku, and neighbouring border communities believed to be used as bandit hideouts.
The abduction which occurred at Federal Government College (FGC) Yauri) has triggered nationwide concern, with parents and residents demanding swift action.
A senior military officer, who spoke under anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly, confirmed that the operation is “active, coordinated, and ongoing.”
> “Our men are in the field. We have identified movement paths used by the kidnappers. The goal is to locate the hostages and secure them safely,” the officer said.

Many parents who gathered around the school premises expressed fears for the safety of their children as authorities remain tight-lipped about the exact number of girls taken from the school.
